She's currently in foster care associated with a dog rescue group that's in the process of starting up here. The foster mom and founder of the rescue group let me take her to see how well she would do with someone else and in a different environment. She's a year old and I think was a cattle dog that didn't make the grade. She apparently spent much of her first year in a barn, so city noises, sights and sounds ... She seemed to be otherwise ok and her wrinkle wasn't smelly, so I figured it was an allergic reaction. Only two things were different about her day - both dogs got chicken broth on their food at dinner... But Diego loved it so much he ate the majority of it... The other was that I took out 2 stuffed toys for them that have been in storage for I'd say well over a year (possibly longer). ... She managed to mostly keep her cool even when one of the drop-ins was a dog reactive poodle that was in heat. Hopefully he'll be going there 2 days a week. It's "pretty much" on the way to work and we often see anywhere from 3-8 dogs in the woman's yard, so each day would have any number of dogs to keep things interesting. (she owns 2 dogs) She is a retired vet assistant, has a 1 acre fenced yard, NEVER leaves the dogs un-attended and they can come and go in and out of her house as they please. LOL I'm sure she ... They know that they are suppose to stay on their towel for us to dry their feet but usually we are right behind them to do it. The problem? He won't eat. I've switched foods, switched brands, switched flavors and still, this dog will turn his nose up at food. I've gone to once feeding a day (I've never free fed but he's never really had a morning appetite), I've skipped a day and he still will not race to his bowl. Hubby and I were both surprised by how well she did; not the actual agility mind you (though that was really neat), but the keeping her cool while being close by other dogs. She had a few minor blow-ups, at times the general excitement of the class plus the added stimulus of dogs running ahead of her (and getting food) were a bit too much, but it's a big change from the last class we took together. Daycare is working wonders for Molly, she's now up to 2x a week and I can definitely notice a calmer Molly on those days. She still gets really barky and crazy in the car if she sees another dog though. Work in progress. Diego has been doing awesome, I have to give alot of credit to the flirt pole. If he even catches a glimpse of the 'squirrel' that he chases he gets super excited and full of beans ready to go. Definitely his favorite ... Otis was fabulous on leash. Right beside me and the stroller the whole time, barely any tugging. Mia well she tugged for about half of the walk. Otis only really pulled once when he saw 2 dogs on the other side of the road, but when we walked infront of a house that had their dog out front, I told him to leave it and he kept going.
